So, I recently tried to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S5 from my iPhone 5s, and I tried it for about a month, and switched back due to some frustrations. The main culprit was being unable to use it seamlessly with my Mac like I can with my iPhone.
I managed to figure out to get my iTunes music on it pretty seamlessly. It has it's slight flaws, but it works and I was glad. Movies on the other hand was a different problem. I can't seem to put any sort of video that's beyond 4 GBs in size. I can't seem to find a decent workaround for it, and that's my problem, that I have to find a workaround for it. My current solution is to use my Windows Laptop, have the laptop connect to my Mac via the router and THEN access the file and transfer it to the S5 using the USB 3.0 cable, which takes about an hour to do all that.
I'm sure some of you are wondering "Why in the world would you watch a movie on that tiny screen?" and I would counter with "Why not? What's the point of this beautiful 5.1" 1080p screen?" And it doesn't necessarily have to be Movies, but also home videos. There may be a time where I want to put some HD home videos that I'd want to share with friends or family. Of course, that's not happening right now, but it crosses my mind as a possibility.
If some of my solutions involve rooting, then I guess I'm out of luck because I have the AT&T S5 and it's bootloader is locked.
But what about Contacts? I had to transfer some of my iCloud to G-Mail contacts manually over, but that's a pain in the ass. Is there a way to keep iCloud and gmail contacts in synch with each other like I can with an iPhone?
So what programs do you guys use with your android phone to sync with your Mac? I want to give android a chance, but I guess what prevents me from switching is that I can't find a way to keep all my data working with the devices seamlessly like I can with the iPhone. What am I doing wrong?
