I have a Nikon dslr camera. It shoots 720 video in AVI format (m-jpg). I want to be able to sync both photos and videos to my iPad photo library.

If i convert those AVI files to m4v using Air Video, it syncs just fine. But it refuses to sync unconverted files. I tried renaming them, doesnt help.

If i simply plug in the camera into iPad, it imports and plays all AVI files just fine. So its not that iPad cant play those AVI files.

What the trick?

Any ideas? What are the factors that itunes looks at to "allow" a video to sync?

Refer to the iPad page on Apple.com. They do not mention AVI support. Posters above me are correct.
