Here is an example of a map that I want to capture in the highest available resolution:

The problem is if I zoom in fully, I can only capture small sections, as the entire map exceeds my screen size.

I supposed I could do this in sections, by zooming in, screenshoting and capturing sections of the map, before stiching them together, but this is very time consuming. Is there any software that will do this automatically by zooming into the map, capturing screenshots and panning around?

I have a Macbook air 15, so wondered if there was anything that would provide a solution to this application on the Mac. I also have windows and linux sytems if this could be achieved easier on these.

This works for me:
Open png, that is https://i.redd.it/u4jzhywb83ja1.png
Right click on the map and Save As. Save the png.
You now have it captured as a PNG. Full resolution. You can view it, zoom and scroll around in Preview.
Thanks for your reply and finding a solution for this specific example. Out of interest, did you just upload the link to Reddit and this allowed saving as a maximum resolution png?

Despite this specific example, my question is more general. Are you aware of any software that will do what I want?

I just took your URL which was a "composite" of a link to openseadragon with the link to the image to be used. I just took the image URL. How ell that works with other examples depends on how openseadragon works.

And no I am not aware of general purpose software to do that. Likely requires an understanding of developing for OpenSeadragon.
