How to tell if Turbo Boost is activated?

hello everyone,

I have a few technical questions that i have been curious about with my mac pro.

I have the 12-core 2.4Ghz (2.67 turbo boost) model and i was curious if there was a way to tell if turbo boost is being used and when it is. I have used activity monitor and right clicked on the icon to "show CPU usage" but it just gives a visual of how much work each cpu is using not the actual frequency they are running at.

I know that windows has some utilities that can show this, but i haven't really found anything for mac.

Been looking for a way for ages.

Bottom line is... you can't monitor it easily.

Linpack is the closest I got to it, randomly starting and stopping it results in 3.46/3.60Ghz readings, which is correct for >2 and 1-2 core boost respectively.

Well since "boost" can be identified just by looking at the clock frequency and since Hardware Monitor creates a visual history graph at 1sec intervals (user definable) of CPU Cycle Speed, couldn't that be used?

Activity Monitor has both real-time and recorded Usage history graphs but I dunno what they would look like as boost transitions over so I can't say about that - have you tried it?
