An easy way: When five months have passed with your 2.33 C2D MBP, and you go around Best Buy and other stores and don't have an iota of longing for anything in the laptop section, no matter how fancy or powerful may be there.

No envy or anything of the sort. I'm still 100% pleased with my MBP :).
 
This just points me in the direction of selling my MacBook and getting one of these babies...
 
My local bestbuys do not even have macs, so when I walk through the laptop section, it is usually on the way to somewhere else. :D

edit: I still wouldn't want anything but my macs though.

...and wonder how anyone could live with anything else. I feel sick when I see people actually buying them, what a waste, what a waste... ;)
 
x2. That's another thing that is so satisfying about Macs.

I also like how they hold their value. It's nice to sell a 2 year old computer for 80% or more of the purchasing price.

Gotta love it.
 
i want to know why people think my mbp was outdated the day i bought it...theres nothing newer or better out there wtf?

x3 on that one, but in general these people dont have a scooby what they are getting anyway so it doesnt matter in the slightest to them. Probably only just sit in a corner being a good dust collector.
 
Ignorance is bliss when it comes to tech.
If you're happy, don't go looking for ways to try to be happier.
You'll save yourself a lot of headache.

Innocence in this case is a beautiful thing. Once you lose it, you'll never get it back.

The MBP that the OP is talking about is not the same as yours. He has the 'previous non-Santa Rosa' MBP. You on the other hand have the latest! So enjoy while you are latest/greatest for now!

There's something to be said for having the best available computer, and yet there's also something to be said for having something that still looks good and is appealing months or even years after you bought it. The only machine I might want instead of mine is a 17'' hi-res MBP. Other than that, I don't see much out there that makes me look at my laptop as deficient in any way (perhaps aside from the video card, which I knew going in was something of a weak point for the second-revision MBPs).

Most other laptops look clunky, have specs that are less than my MBP's, and/or are otherwise unattractive for some reason.
