Hi,

Looking to buy a Mac mini in the classifieds, but not sure how to tell which year it is.....seller referenced A1347.... But as you will see from the link, there are multiple models with this reference.

http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=A1347

If 2012, 2.6gh I5 dual core, 8g Ram, and 550g hd.......what would be a market price...$300?

how to tell the year of an aluminum unibody
id call the seller and ask them these questions:

does it have an optical drive? yes - 2010

is it missing an optical drive - either 2012 or 2014

turn Mac mini upside down

does the cover have thumb holes ? yes it is a 2012

it does not have thumb holes -- > it is a 2014

thats pretty much it. as far as 2006 to 2009 macs go, yeah i don't want to go there, there are too many models

you can also call the seller and ask him to click on "about this mac" / and system report. it will say exactly what it was like "mac mini mid 2010" and Mac mini4,1

Thanks....and price?

Thanks...it def doesn't have an optical drive, so from you suggestions. I believe I am safe to assume it is at least 2012 model.

..from reading the multiple threads on Mac mini and the 2014 version, seems like a 2012 version would be better and more value for money if I can put my own RAM into it.

Does $300 sound a reasonable price if 2012, 2G i5 dual core 8G Ram with 500g HDD ?? I had thought market value would be c$400... But appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Hi, It could be a 2011, no drive in that one, I have one.
Just picked up a 2012 at best buy, nice, a little faster too.

Looks like the majority on the street thinks the 2014 is a bomb:eek:

----------

If it is a 2012, 300.00 for those specs seems like a good price, I paid 425.00 for an open box, geek squad tested base model, very happy with it.:D

If it has no optical drive it can be a 2010,2011,2012,or 2014.

300$ would be an OK price for a mini with the above specs, 400$ would be too much IMO .
