I have an album of Live Photo’s (the image and QuickTime movie) on my iphone I’d like to get to my mac. Over time, I added favourites to an album as I went along.
  • Airdop doesn’t transfer Live Photo’s
  • iCloud Drive doesn’t transfer Live Photo’s

You can use image capture that does but you can’t filter by album! (I have 500 photos and 50 of them I sorted in an album)
Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply!

That won't work as the direction is from Mac > iOS.

I need to transfer albums created on iOS > Mac

I am confused. Why can’t you do that? Plug in phone to Mac, open iPhoto on Mac, click on phone icon in sidebar, choose photos to download. Am I missing something ?

I'll expand on the original post. Remember this is for live photos :)

Say you have 500 photos taken over the period of a month and you're continually taking more pictures but you want to extract the 50 favourite you made over a trip, it's silly to scan through 500 photos to find the ones you already liked to just import them.

I'm looking for a way to just import my favourites or an album that way, it's just one click.
Expand this to having thousands of photos and favouriting 50 you want to import (say the highlights). It's ridiculous to have to import them all and have to look through them all and try to get the same favourites you made on the spot previously because the ecosystem doesn't let you import your live photos

Why do you have to import them all? Live Photos work fine in iPhoto, not sure what the issue there is. Maybe I’m missing something.

Thanks for the reply. You are missing something. I'm not sure how to re-explain apart from this:
  • Open photos
  • connect your phone
  • see 1000 pictures ready to import
  • Now think 'I don't want to import ALL of them, I just want a select 50 of them BUT i have to find them all which is a pain'
  • Remember you have an album on your phone you created whilst you were on holiday but it's useless because you can't import JUST that album

I found the solution to this.

I bought http://imazing.com which was advertised on Macrumours today funnily enough.
See? Just being a member of this site gives you solution!

It allows exporting of albums, hidden albums, inc live photos with all sorts of extras like folders for locations etc.
