I have an iPhone 11 and my 15 PM will arrive soon. So now I upgraded to the 2TB iCloud, and 113GB of photos are saved on iCloud, but when I check my storage on the phone it says that I have 8GB of photos saved locally on the phone. How do I get ALL pictures, including the 8GB into iCloud to be saved?

Or more like HOW can I save ALL photos so I can then delete and reset the phone without losing all my pictures? Because I have seen that once its saved on iCloud and you delete it from the phone they also get deleted from iCloud which is totally stupid and I don't understand why.

Its so complicated, does anyone know how I can easily save everything so I can then safely reset and delete the phone?

Congrats on the upcoming upgrade. Anyway, to ensure all your photos are backed up to iCloud, you can go to Settings > Photos, and turn on "Optimize iPhone Storage." This should save your photos in iCloud while keeping smaller versions on your phone.

You won't lose your pics when resetting your phone. Enjoy your 15 PM! we the same lol

Hey, I've been on this setting for probably like years, however there is still 8GB saved locally on the phone. Does it matter? Or are those 8GB also on the iCloud already?

Thank you! Can't wait for it, the 11 has been bothering me way too long. It got so damn slow and buggy and the battery drain is way too quick too.

I don't think the "fixes" out there address what feels like the Photos app using as much space as it can grab.

This was the main reason I chose to back up my photos to Google Photos and then delete them from Photos.

now i see it

If an iPhone is backed up either to iCloud or the Mac, everything gets saved.
Then when you set up your new phone, restore from the backup and everything will be back how it was on the older iPhone — including all your pictures and albums.
