How to transfer things to a new iMac?

I'd like to move all of my photos, documents and some apps from my Mac Mini to my 5K iMac when I get it. I've never done anything like this before so it's all new to me. I also have a Time Capsule if that matters.

When you set up a new Mac, there will be options to migrate from time capsule or old Mac. Just follow the instruction and you'll be fine.

As stated above. It couldn't be any easier. The transfer may take a while if you have a lot of data.

Don't do what I did...use the migration tool or time machine.

The Migration tool works great but doing it with an Ethernet cable takes a little longer than forever! I ended up buying a Thunderbolt cable and stopping the first transfer after 6 hours. It still had a long way to go. I just started with the new cable. Hopefully it will be done a lot sooner. Total data transfer is 899GB.
