How to trick early 2008 MacBook to run 10.8?

I'm running a MacBook white (Early 2008) and want to run Mountain Lion. Specs are:

2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
OS 10.7

It's unsupported, sadly. I've read somewhere that this has to do with the driver kernels not being able to be 64bit-only...?

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to hack this model to run 10.8? That might mean hackintosh drivers and then rewriting something so that the Mac App Store thinks it's a different machine.

But I have no idea how to do that. Anyone able to point me down that road?

There are a few different threads in this same forum on this exact topic. Personally, it looks like such a hassle for all the time and effort involved. I'd recommend just living with Lion until you can purchase a new(er) Mac.

you can try this. i don't know if it will work.

go into finder---> system---> library---> core services---> and open up "SystemVersion.plist"

once this is open look for text that says "<key>ProductVersion</key>" right below it should show what version of leopard you are running. change the number to 10.8 then you should be able to install ML over leopard.

i installed ML over leopard a few days ago on my friends laptop and did it that way.

This will not work. Mountain Lion will not install on an unsupported machine this way. The installation will still fail and if it does manage to pass, it will kernel panic at boot.
