Hi, my iPhone 5S displays messages “Good Morning (my name)” and Good Evening (etc) at the bottom of the screen. I see this greeting from Clock when I double-click the Home button to quit any apps that are running. Since I open and quit apps all the time, I’m getting these greetings many, many times a day, and it’s really annoying. I don’t want my phone to mimic personal greetings to me (just like I don’t want my toaster to say “Hey, hows it going?”) and I’m seeing these messages repeatedly so it’s also redundant. I’ve tried searches here and on Google, and can’t figure out how to turn this off.

Try turning off Bedtime.

Also there's no reason to close apps. They don't run in the background. They get "frozen" after a few seconds which means they're not taking up and CPU resources. It's not going to save your battery by doing that. In fact it does the opposite since the app has to be completely reloaded the next time you use it which is more CPU intensive than unfreezing it. Let iOS handle this, it's very efficient at managing resources.

I tried turning off app suggestions in Siri, and I turned off Siri access to Clock. Maybe I am missing something but that didn’t work.

Bedtime is not enabled and has never been used (“get started with bedtime” message when I open it).

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll leave the apps running, which will reduce my daily exposure to this annoying “feature”.
