How do you to turn SMS notification popups COMPLETELY off?

I've already turned the SMS notification PREVIEW option off. The preview is gone which is half way to what I want, but the notification still pops up along with the sender's name.

There are JailBreak apps to turn popups off completely so it's looking like I keep finding new reasons to JB every week.

There is no way to do this without jailbreaking.

If you do jailbreak, you can download iBlacklist. And go into extra's, and hide SMS popups. You can then download status notifier or there are many other programs that will display icons in your status bar at the top of your phone to show when you have received a message. Hope this helps.

yeah I've been reading.

Found this too.
There are 3 apps that completely remove sms popups… 1) PYSL (protect your secret life) — free
2) Caterpillar ($45)
3) MCleaner (best value — $19 and does far more than just protect you from embarrassing sms text popups)

Looks like I'm VERY close to JB'ing.

Man...never thought I would.

Here's my list of reasons to JB. None of which involve piracy like so many people love to point out the reasons why people JB.

Custom email alert sounds
Stop SMS popups
Disable display rotation when I want to
Protect or hide apps
Unlocking for travel
5 apps in the dock
Disable camera shutter sound
Other custom alerts sounds wanted

I'm not sure if you know this but, only the iPhone 3Gs with old bootrom and older can get custom boot logos for now. This means iPhone 3Gs (new bootrom), 4, iPod Touch 3G, and 4G cannot get custom boot logos.

Jailbreak and use David Ashmans Popup Blocker, works like a charm and its not a resource hog. Highly configurable (if thats a word)
