How to unlock jailbroken 3g 2.0.1?

I jailbreaked it with quickpwn and the guide I was using said you had to use fuzzy downgrader then unlock with yellowsnow. I don't have the right bootloader for fuzzy so I'm at a loss.

Is there a way to unlock 2.0.1 or should I upgrade to 3.x?

One more thing... If it does make more sense to update to 3.x and use redsn0w, can I just go straight into iTunes and do of? Or would I have to restore first? Thanks!
