When i clicked on download in the app store it ask me if i want to update my existing OS or hit continue to download the full installer. So I hit continue and it's downloading the 5GB file. Can I use this to update or should I've gone back and let it update instead?

Which method are you guys using to update from GM 3.0 (not clean/fresh install)?

As of now, you can only upgrade via the full installer. Not sure if Apple will release a simple update for GM users. I think they will for PB users, at least they said so when the beta program started. But we will see.

That would be slightly dissapointing. Right now Yosemite is downloading like a pig for me. 16hours 30minutes on a solid 100mb connection. Ugh :(.

I just started it on my 100Mb connection, and it's going fast, will be about 15 minutes start to finish for the 5.16GB.

Waiting to download the entire 5.16 GB file as well. Does anyone know if this is this going to do a fresh install or will my files, settings etc. be carried over? I've never installed the same version of an OS on top of itself like this before and I don't want to have to deal with a Time Machine restore or anything like that...

It's an upgrade, everything will be intact. That said, make sure you have a backup.

I can say that Apple didn't fix the runaway memory leak when composing messages in Mail. Just pegged Mail at 52 GB's, forcing a force quit. Looks like I'm going to have to go back with another bug report and keep using unibox.
This is nuts. This has been my only real problem. Hope they fix it soon.

Hey Mike, yeah, it's not a good thing. I'm experiencing the same issue on 3 machines and it's just not ideal using unibox. If I had the time, I'd try boiling down the issue to fix whatever is wrong, as clearly it's not something effecting everyone.
During Beta I switch to Dropbox for a few things because of the iCloud changes. I am going to switch back soon but I just notice the Dropbox is Syncing MAILDATA (Signatures?). Are you also doing that? Just wondering if this could be a problem.

was this from a clean install of yosemite, or an upgrade?

Both. I tried it both ways on two different computers, an iMac and rMBP 15". And the results were the same. The leak is more deadly on the iMac because I only have 8gb of ram and the rMBP has 16, so I can sort of keep going on the laptop long after my coworker tells me the iMac Mail crashed.

Knock on wood but have not had the mail memory leak problem since I stopped Dropbox Sync and upgrading from to 14A389 from final DP GM Candidate. I did a download of 14A389 from the App Store and did a normal upgrade. No issues during the upgrade.

Apple's email is ambiguous or vague about needing to install 14A389 and just says "There are only minor differences ". If you don't install 14A389 will 14A388a offer an update to 10.10.1 when available or must you install 14A389 first?

EDIT: I guess I'll just go ahead and update.
