How to update Reminders app without iCloud?

I can only update Reminders by signing in to iCloud, which is something I do not want to do.
So maybe someone knows of a workaround to update Reminders (macOS, iOS) another way?

Workaround for what? Reminders works without iCloud enabled.

I know, but the more advanced functionalities are not an option unless you “update” Reminders.

If I am correct it does not let you change icons, has just a select number of colors and there is no way to get the Kanban functionality.
