To use it as a monitor though for an external source, you'll need a 'coming soon' adapter from Apple (Hopefully something will pop up at monoprice before then though.

you would just need a usb tv tuner like ones Elgato sells. It will turn any mac into a tv.

not sure if there's any adapter coming..hope it's not staggering pricey, Elgato's solution seems not bat though:rolleyes:, but they're not cheap at all

No idea at all

I have an Elgato EyeTV Hybrid and it's great.

It is analog and digital, but you can plug composite devices and s-video in too.

I use this exact same method for live TV into a few different macs, in the den and bedrooms at home.
No need for new hardware adapters or USB converters. Just a firewire cable and a digital box.

Good luck

Bad News

If this is true the new 27" iMac will not support any device except one the outputs Displayport. If this is true, only PCs or other systems that have displayport connection will work. Not sure I like this but I guess it's better than nothing.

Cheers,
