someone showed me once, but when he did, the ipod icon was on the desktop. now, when i try to do it, the ipod icon the desktop is not there. (its there for the first few seconds when i plud in my ipod)

and after i get that fixed, do i just drag my item and dop it on the icon?

please help!

go to preferences in iTunes (have your iPod connected)

and click enable disk use.

you have to remember to eject it, though.

other than that, rock on with your external HD iPod.

I've wondering how to do this, too! Thanks for posting. Oh, and if the iPod is used for external HD, do you have to change the settings in order for it to be able to play music again?

Nope. It just means you have to manually eject it each time you want to unplug it. This is pretty easy, you can just press the eject button next to its icon in iTunes or eject it like you would a normal disk in OSX (through Finder) or Windows (through Explorer) depending on which OS you are using. :)
