To keep it short, I turned on FileVault and the encryption is still in progress. However, I want to turn it off as soon as possible without having to wait for it to fully encrypt before decrypting. I've looked at some resources such as this:

(typing "sudo fdesetup disable" into the terminal, then inputting my password, username, and password again)

But after doing this, I get "FileVault was not disabled." Help, please!

You'll need to let it finish encrypting before you'll be able to turn off FileVault, regardless of the method you use to turn off FileVault.
