How to view files on a Mac from iPhone, wirelessly

so, to do this, I currently use a 3rd party app called FileExplorer. But, I currently can only do it when connected to my hone WiFi network and have not bothered to try and change it to work outside of it. Also, I would prefer a more secure option than just letting anyone access my file system. Is there a native way to do this through the apple ecosystem? I would think since both devices are logged into my iCloud account, Apple would have a very secure way of me accessing it. I do not want to have to add the files to my iCloud storage. I just want to be able to access my computers whole file system and directly download to my device for offline use.
