I have an iPad Air 5 and a Samsung TV. Netflix and Prime are accessible on the telly, but not an Apple app.

On a search I see some of these leads from the iPad can block Netflix/Amazon etc. Anyone know what I need that's not too much of a pain to stream Apple TV from the iPad to the telly, easily?

Would love to use wirelessly, or mirroring from phone or iPad but nothing works on that front for me.
Thanks for any help

Does your Samsung TV have an App Store? If so, go there and see if the Apple TV app is available to install. If not, you could always buy an Apple TV to hook up to your Samsung TV, that would give you all of the apps you want, plus allow you to AirPlay from your iPad to the Apple TV. Or, you could get an Amazon Firestick as a more affordable alternative, it will also have all of the apps you need.

You need something connected to the TV via HDMI to receive streams from your iPhone or iPad. Generally that would be an AppleTV. I don't think you can stream from an iPhone to a Firestick.

Thank you both for these answers. I wondered about the Amazon sticks, and if it was just a plug in job to the USB on the telly, that may be an option, but I understand they need power too? There’s so much power going in as it is behind the telly. I tried to update the apps on the telly but for some reason, Apple is not an option. It’s an auto update and there’s no store options. When I look up these problems on a search engine, Samsung seem to stand out for streaming to. Telly is about 5 or 6 years old. Decent enough, but no friend of iOS it would appear. Maybe the Apple TV is the way forward, thanks again.

The new Samsung TVs do support and have the AppleTV app, which lets viewers watch AppleTV+ content. But even don't support AirPlay, which is an interaction of hardware and software that only Apple hardware provides. And even with a modern TV that runs the native AppleTV app, I would still choose an external AppleTV over the internal app. I don't trust any smart TV maker to protect my identity or viewing habits, so I always disable the networking on the these TVs so they can't "report back" on my activities. I have a reminder to check for firmware updates every six months, and I turn on wifi, check, update, and turn it off again.

Thanks, Hadn't actually thought of any of that to be honest, but other than Amazon/Netflix, all the other apps that do come with it are just alien to most, never heard of 90% of them. No AirPlay and no mirroring, which I thought it would do, because YouTube works with Samsung from the phone, not that you need it to, because YouTube is one of the telly apps. I thought a newer iPad would have stood more chance but it was the telly that needs updating.
