I had no idea, that Apple TV supports screen sharing:
  1. Open QuickTime Player on your Mac
  2. Select "New Video-Recording"
  3. Click onto the triangle right next to the record button.
  4. Select the Apple TV you want to look at.
After step 4 you will get realtime video of your Apple TV. You can watch it without recording. Just do not press the record button. Active screen sharing will be indicated by a red frame on the Apple TV.

Pretty cool! I was trying out the new Marquee TV site (arts streaming site: ballet, opera, concerts, Theater) streaming from my iPad to my Apple TV. Running Quicktime on my Mac I was able to capture the Apple tV screen. Unfortunately when I did it the Apple TV cut off its sound.
