I literally have a $500 Best Buy Gift card ready to use. I will be so upset if the new iPad Air 3 whenever it gets updated. Lacks

#1. 3D Force Touch
#2. Apple Pencil compatability.

Why ? Apple may try and convince you a 9.7" Display does not Need a Stylus finger is ok enough.
I disagree, why my new Note 5 has a 5.7 inch OLED display which is pressure sensitive and can detect how hard I am pressing the Angle of the Stylus tip etc. And has more features than the iPad Pro
(for example)

Split screen YouTUbe 1440p Videos at 60 FPS use my Stylus to crop an image of the Video and drag and drop it into an email or a Power Point or Excel Presentation instantly.

Now I really really want an updated iPad Air 3 But IT MUST have an updated Display to use the Apple Pencil anything less is unacceptable. Am I off base here ?

I don't think so. The iPad Pro is just a big iPad. Many users were clamoring for precision input back when the largest iPad was just 9.7"

So was the video where it talked about the ipad pro having more fine-grain screen touch sensitivity just marketing bs? Curious to see if its hardware related or vice versa.

The pencil is a nice addition and I'd like to see it be added to other iPad models. Would I be upset, no but it may decrease the chances of buying a newer iPAd.

There will literally be outrage, if the iPad Air 3 does not get Apple Pencil features.

Why - its only a tablet. Life is too short to get so upset about an electronic device - just my $.02

Perhaps the iPad Pro is what you want or the Surface Pro (if you want a windows OS).

Outrage, really? You mean, like beheadings on YouTube? Calls for sanctions in the UN Security Council? More threats of nuclear armageddon from North Korea? You could buy the Pro...

Ipad pro and ipad air are two different product lines. If they add the pencil capability to the ipad they would have to increase the price.

At this point in time, it is hard to say. We don't know what Apple is thinking re: iPad vs. iPad Pro.

It is possible that the Pro will be used as a proving ground for newer tech like the Pencil and keyboard cover. They can sell the peripherals at a premium because they know that's what that niche market will bear. Apple wouldn't need to commit to producing 10's millions of Pencils. Just enough for the Pro. Once things shake out, they would move these peripherals "down" to the iPad. (That is of course if that is what Apple is thinking)

Alternatively, they could use these peripherals as a perpetual differentiator between the iPad and iPad Pro. In this scenario, the Pencil and keyboard cover would continue to be Pro exclusives.

I really need to know if there is an iPad Air 3 or not. I waited a full year (still on iPad 3). I will feel worse if I get iPad Air 2 today only to hear announcement of iPad Air 3 in November.

There's nothing anyone here, or anywhere outside of Apple, can tell you that hasn't already been said. Is it possible? Yeah. Is it likely? No, very unlikely to happen this year.

The iPad 3 was the worst iOS device I've owned. If you step up to the Air 2, you will literally be blown away. Having said that, even the original Air would be a big step up.

same here. I've waited for almost full year. my iPad 3 is really slow now. I can't wait till next year for the Air 3.
Anw, I am going to get a latest Air this year even it's Air 2 or 3.

LOL outrage? You're taking this way further than it needs to go. Just recognize that Apple wants the iPad Pro to sell and if they put it's most advertised features in the smaller iPads it will cannibalize sales of the iPad Pro. In terms of 3D force touch....not even sure the iPad Air 3 will have that feature as the iPad Pro doesn't even have it. I would say the iPad Air 3 may be just a lightweight update with possibly more ram and a better GPU and possibly more reinforced glass and stronger body as the iPhone 6S's have.

I mean, judging from them not adding 4K to the TV when this was the most anticipated TV update in years, it's safe to say the iPad Air 3 may not be what you are expecting it to be.

I got the impression from the keynote that the pencil will work on all iPads, but obviously a true companion to the iPad Pro's screen capabilities

As a gadget i think the pencil is awesome but have i ever wanted or needed to use a stylus with my Air 2?..nope! So im not bothered.

I'm glad they didn't touch the 9.7" model. My Air 2 is still top of the hill. I don't care about the XXL iPad; way to much and to big.

I'll get the Air 2, I would be seriously angry if they release one within couple of months
