Anybody here have or used a nylon strap? Of course the steel and rubber sport bands are completely waterproof, but are the nylon straps at least water resistant meaning you can get them wet and there's no lasting damage unlike with leather. Or perhaps they are water proof to the point you could clean the nylon strap with soap and water or shower with it and it'll be okay. I think nylon is a form of plastic??

Yes, nylon is a type of plastic and they can be cleaned with soap and water and that is recommended as they do smell when used with exercise. I think because they are woven threads, you would probably soak in detergent/soap and warm water to get grime between threads.

I was actually just thinking about posting this as well..

I'm probably going to go to the Apple Store Saturday to try one on... I think I'm finally convinced I want a series 2 aluminum and just need to decide whether I want nylon or the rubber band.. I've thought about getting some cheap bands off of Amazon, but after ordering a new phone and watch, it might be a bit before I'm ready to drop some more money on accessories ;)
[doublepost=1473993358][/doublepost]Is the nylon comfortable? More so than the rubber strap?

The nylon bands are super comfortable since they are so light and they breathe. Definitely go for the nylon band since there are lots of sport bands available either 3rd party or used. The nylon 3rd party bands are still pretty hit or miss and not many used original ones available either.

Are they fairly soft? Most nylon bands I've experienced feel pretty rough..

Do you own one? I'm also wondering how bad they will hold the smell of sweat and need washing ;) trying to decide if I need different bands for swimming, running, and the office!

They're quite smooth and comfortable, more so than the nylon NATO style I have for my other watches.

Easy to wash, just like every other nylon watch strap in the world -- but, of course, they take longer to dry out than rubber (well, Apple's "flouroastomer", which is really good) or steel.

Yes, I own one. They aren't scratchy at all. I haven't had mine smell yet but I don't tend to wear it when I'll be sweating really heavily. I have cleaned mine a couple of times because I got stuff on it. A little dawn and scrubbing with my fingers works miracles and gets it looking new again.

I would recommend a sports band for swimming, they of course dry much much quicker.
