I was just wandering from the people out there how well does osx 10.10 run on the MacBook Pro mid 2010 13in and also how does it run on the 2008 imac 29in

Since it is still a beta, it still has some bugs on older machines, even the 29" iMac.

But you can already use OS X 10.10 Yosemite as your primary OS. No need to wait any further. Backups are also not necessary anymore, since ...

How can I get a copy of it even though I'm not a developer

Just say no.
You WILL NOT be happy with it as it is today.

There WILL be problems and you'll be sitting here creating more threads just to figure out how to fix a problem that may be fixed in the next build.

I have installed it on one of the oldest machines it supports, a Mid 2007 20" iMac. It's an upgraded base model, it has a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, and a 120GB SSD. Along with the ATI Radeon 2400XT with 128MB VRAM.

And it runs just fine! Minus the bugs. From a usability standpoint, every machine it supports should be fine. Some will need more RAM, sure, this shipped with 1GB, then went to 2GB, now to 4GB. And moving from the original 7 year old 250GB spinner to the SSD has made a massive improvement. The bottleneck know is the old ATI card and the 2.0 Core 2.

Your 2008 should run similarly, and the MBP may be a little better. When it releases or even now, if you aren't satisfied with it's performance, look into a RAM and SSD upgrade. Should last a few more years.

As for obtaining a copy without being a developer, it can be done. But that's all I'll say. It isn't a legal copy either. So we can't help you on that here. Rules are rules

You wait until it is released. Or do you need one of OS X 10.10 Yosemite's features that bad to risk running a beta as your primary OS? You have lived without OS X 10.10 Yosemite for four to six years now, some more months surely do not harm your computational habits, especially if you do not know how to get something like an OS illegally.

On the macs I motioned will they get the transparency like they showed in the keynote

I have the same machine(macbook pro 13" mid 2010), I hope it will run at least in a similar way that Marvericks does (which isn't as fast as slow leopard but is usable if you wait the 3 mins startup)
