How well will new iMac run Leopard?

Apple aren't stupid, it'll run fine or there would be massive repercussions in the IT industry. After all the release is 2 months away.
The last i heard Leopard will be compatible with G4s (and possibly G3s but not specifically stated.)
Going from the last upgrade, 10.3 - 10.4 apple actually increase performance, not like Ms with Xp - Vista where they took 3 steps back regarding performance.

Leopard will run just fine if not better than Tiger on anything thats currently for sale right now and thats likely true for almost everything that can run it.

Leopard is another reason I moved to apple, can't wait for that release. It will be nice to not have to pay over 500 bucks for an OS upgrade! lol
The same...you can even do a fresh install on a machine which had Tiger (just have to move your data through other media)

Probably better than Tiger does at the moment.
The basis for this is that every new version of Mac OS X has run better on current hardware than the version which replaced it.
Leopard apps should be able to handle concurrency (and take advantage of multiple cores) a whole heap better, thanks to NSOperation and NSOperation Queue we are told.

Very well....this iMac will be the 1st iMac that leapard is sold on. You'll have to pay 129 to have your iMac now, but it would be the same thing as the one running 10.5 later in Oct
Agreed. Leopard will run amazingly well on these new iMacs and any Intel Mac for that reason. There is also little reason not to believe this is the same for G5's and most G4's.
That's it exactly. All the Intel-based machines should see quite a performance boost with Leopard, all other things remaining the same.
Those of us running PowerPC machines should wonder if we'll be in the penalty box with Leopard.
if the iMovie 08 requirements are anything to go by, G5 users are safe, but the G4 users might have some need to worry.
Funnily enough I just tried Leonard 9A499 on my new iMac, it installed ok, but not after failing to recognise the HDD.
Got it on with a bit of jiggery-pokery, reboot, white screen of death. I can hear the Apple Welcome Movie, mouse works, keyb seems to work although I cant see where to type...
Ended up with my Tiger partition buggered. No matter, I'm still in install everything and rebuild mode, back to normal now.
Works fine on my PowerMac and G5 iMac.
I don't think it recognised sth in the new iMac system, prolly the vid card, although install routine gfx are fine...
Next time try putting Leopard on instead of Leonard and it might work better... haha just giving you a hard time!

Let's not forget Leopard is still in BETA testing!
The final version will be more optimized and feel much snappier, just like other incremental upgrades.
