I would like to know if i got the baseline 2.93 Ghz iMac if I could play the Sims 3 and World of Warcraft on all high setting?

it will be fine for those games, though you might consider getting the 4850 radeon upgrade. that's where the deciding factor come in.

What do you mean by that?

The graphics card.
The standard 2.93GHz iMac has the GT120 card, which can be upgraded to the HD4850 for 200$.

As the HD4850 is considered the better graphics card, you might consider upgrading.

Also have a look at MRoogle results:

It's not so much the processor speeds in todays iMac line (really just about any new computer) thats the limiting factor for performance its the video card. You want to maximize your video card for the best result. As far as the iMac line and the video cards others on this board are more qualified to give you an answer there as I'm not too familiar with them.

I have the GT 120. It's not the smoothest thing ever, but it's not unplayable.

online applestore imac 3.06 with the gt 130 for 1849 i think, comes with the same one year warranty. and you can still get applecare, they also have the 3.06 with the 8800gs which is about the same as the gt130 for 1599 and thats the one i got, plays almost everything great except crysis on high...
