I'm planning on getting an Xs, and am on EE so will be using the eSim functionality. However, my work phone is also on EE, and I was hoping (when the software update becomes available), to put the nano-sim from my work phone in my Xs and only carry one phone?

I would like to route all internet traffic through my personal contract, and only use the work Sim for work related phone calls - do we envisage that this may be something that is possible?

If so, do you think it will be possible to assign certain numbers to a certain sim, and when I press "call" it will automatically use the assigned sim?

Also, I wonder what kind of hit this will have on battery life?

Anyone any ideas?

So now I'm curious. I have a few hotspot devices on my ATT plan that were added before the ability was removed. I wonder if I could setup my main service on the eSIM then use a SIM from one of my hotspots as the physical SIM for data only. The plan provides 10GB of service on the phone line (eSIM in this example) but unlimited on the data line(physical SIM in this example). If I could use the data SIM as the default for hotspot through the phone I could reduce two items to one. My phone could be the hotspot like it can today but with less restrictions on the data amount. Hmm.

Forgot one thing, Nano SIM in phone, Micro SIM in hotspot.

I’ve read the information from Apple and it tells me nothing. Even the list of carriers supporting eSIM is incorrect for example Vodafone Spain say they MIGHT consider it in the future, so it’s not a done deal and shouldn’t be listed as eSIM carrier for Spain, the ONLY one! When (if) it is available, will it be for all options, contract, prepaid and pay as you go? These are all questions to be asked and answered before marketing eSIM devices.

My plan is to use my personal plan as my default line (on a eSim) and my work plan for voice and text only (on nano sim). As per the description on the Apple site:
