I currently use my gmail as my apple id, i dont really want a new email address.

so if i sign up for icloud will that just give me a free me.com email address i dont have to use, and all my @gmail.com apple stuff will be synced.

Like with the free find my iphone thing

I posted about this in the main iCloud Introduction thread, and was wondering the same thing. I really hope they provide some means of transferring purchase history, etc., to the @me.com account.

Well you can't sign up for a new me.com account anymore.

So maybe they are phasing out me.com entirely?

Nope, on Apple's iCloud website it says...

Mail that delivers. Free.

When you set up iCloud, you get a free me.com email account. iCloud automatically pushes new email messages to all your devices, so your inbox is up to date everywhere you check it. And iCloud keeps all your folders in sync, no matter which device you’re using.

This is something I am interested in also

I use my mm account to sync contacts and calendar, but my iTunes account is my gmail address

Unsure how they will tie together

Ditto. I have an itunes and mobile me. Does this mean I'd have to pick one or the other for iCloud?
