For those who have decided to make a purchase, how will you use your iPad and what (if anything) will it displace?
For me, I currently have a Macbook and an iPod touch, but after evaluating all of the apps on my Mac last night, I discovered that with all of them, there's either a iPad/Pod equivalent or I don't really use them and can do without. The Macbook will still be handy for syncing data and doing backups, but I'm giving it to my fiance. It'll be her first Mac and she's wanted one for a long time. The iPad meanwhile will become my main device.
Aside from the same sort of apps I use my ipod touch for, I'm primarily interested in using Pages to write stories. Yes, I can do that on my Macbook, but I love the simplicity of it all. I just sit down and dock the iPad and pull out my bluetooth keyboard and just focus on what I want to do.
I've heard lots of complaints about the lack of multitasking, but for me it's a feature. I like that I can focus on just one thing without easily getting distracted.
