So my new MBP came Monday, with a yellow tint at the bottom. I want to take my chances and try exchanging it for a better one. I bought it online. The closest store is an hour and a half away. Can I return it there, or do I have to repack it and send it back? Do I have to call AppleCare first or what? And will I have to pay a 10% restocking fee for an exchange since a lot of the stuff inside is open?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you buy it from apple online or somewhere else? If it was from apple.com then I think you can take it in and they will replace it. If it's from another reseller, you'll have to deal with them directly, or send it to Apple for repair. Those are the rules, I believe, but I've had things bought from amazon replaced by Apple so there are always exceptions.. Call apple to find out!

If you do return it, you're going to have to call either the Apple store or Applecare, I'm not sure, before you return it. If you recieved a faulty computer there's no restocking fee, but I don't know if a yellow tint counts as being faulty. Just call Apple, they'll tell you what to do.

Yes, I bought the computer from the Apple store. I've read about plenty of people who have exchanged their computers because of the yellow tint at the bottom. I'll give Apple a call. Thanks for the replies.
