If the next iPhones are simless how would go from activating - if you have sim card in you old phone?

That might mean they might not have unlocked phones for the next iPhone if the new iPhones that are coming out might be simless so you can just take out the old sim and put it in the new phone

You can do this today if your carrier supports it. I am with AT&T and they support converting SIM to ESIM. It's part of the setup process. I converted mine from SIM to ESIM on my old iPhone 12 Pro and then when I upgraded to the 13 Pro, I just transferred the plan from my old phone to my new one as part of the setup process. My 12 Pro was carrier locked and my 13 Pro is unlocked. No issues making the transfer whatsoever. I think the key is if your carrier supports this process or not.

I purchased a SIM free 13 Pro Max. I upgraded from a 6S Plus which had a SIM card in it. My carrier is T-Mobile. It was incredibly easy to activate the eSIM in my 13 Pro Max. I did a iPhone to iPhone transfer and at the end of the transfer, my eSIM was automatically setup and activated. I did not need to do anything else. Everything was transferred over and setup for me.

Will this mean no more swapping phone to phone on the same number. I for one would hate sim less. I mean I know I’m in the minority but I swap my sim between like 3 different phones.

I think that is what it means since I'm using a iPhone 12 Pro Max that has a sim card and I'm using the e-sim is set to Visible, and sometimes I do switch back and forth from a 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro Max just by replacing the sim card- Dose anyone know if the 13 has dual e-sim?

Verizon has the option from going from Sim to esim and it’s quite easy to do so on the verizon website as long as you have an account. I went from 12 Pro Max that had the verizon sim to 13 pro max. While I could have just taken the sim card from the 12 pro max and insert it to 13 pro max, I wanted to try out the esim. So I did, went to verizon.com and logged in and transfered my sim to esim easily.
