I've never used the external iPad keyboard. How would you rate it for typing? Is it comfortable for typing long texts?

Which external keyboard for which iPad model?

You can use pretty much any Bluetooth keyboard with an iPad so there’s plenty to chose from.

If you’re talking about the Apple one, I love it! I don’t love the new one quite as much as I liked the original Smart Keyboard, but only because of the way it leaves The keyboard exposed when folded back. As far as typing, I think it’s awesome! I have the 11” pro (had 1st and 2nd gen 12.9), and i didn’t know if the size would be as nice as the 12.9 keyboard, but I have fairly small hands and I can fly on this thing.

I don't care for the Apple keyboard. I have one for my 10.5 Pro and never use it but went with the Logitech Slim Folio Pro for my 12.9 Pro. I really like the Logitech - better key feel and it has function keys that I use a lot.

I always find myself wanting something else. Something backlit or more key travel or whatever. Then I get it and I’m like racing to go back to the Apple one because it’s so much lighter and easier to deal with.

i wish the Apple one was backlit. But aside from that, it’s a great keyboard if you don’t do an insane amount of typing. I just wish I could see the damn keys at night!

It is an insult that the Apple iPad keyboard is not backlit. They can afford it.

Another reason I prefer the Logitech Slim Folio Pro.

The real insult is the typing quality on anything Apple recently except the magic keyboard for Mac which is still nice in my opinion. Good that the MBP is reversing that course. Now I’m hoping the same improvement travels to iPad for the next refresh.

I wouldn't get it again. The Apple keyboard only covers the screen when not in use, not the back. I'd go with something that doubles as a protector as well.

I am using this for my iPad Air 3. I found the Smart Keyboard too cramped and for the same price this offers a lot more and the keyboard does use the smart connector

my favorite features are that it’s backlit and that it has a kickstand that works at a wide range of angles
