I guess I'll be upgrading my iMac this week from Lion to Mountain Lion, and I'm curious to know if the RAM usage is increased. Lion's running well on the 4GB I currently have, so will I see any difference with Mountain Lion?

And yes, I know, RAM is pretty cheap and easy to install; I just see no reason in spending the money to upgrade when everything is running smooth at the moment.

I have a 2012 MBA with 4GB and Mountain Lion is running perfectly.

I have a 2009-Mid Macbook Pro and I was wondering how my 4GB of RAM will take advantage of ML. Hopefully all goes well and ML utilises it to the maximum.

Better than Lion, but I recommend the upgrade to 8 GB. It's much better, my Mac never pages out now when before it use to have 1 to 2 million (yes, MILLION) page outs in a day of work (VMs, Xcode, Netbeans, developer stuff), which made it pretty slow as soon as lots of apps were open. Now it's a breeze and the page outs remain at 0.

ML GM on a 2009 iMac with 4GB RAM and it's silky smooth. Love ML so far, but I'm not loving Safari 6. It's been buggy for me, to the point that this is the first time in years that I'm genuinely tempted to give another browser a try.

Better than Lion. Currently running a 1gb virtual machine, aperture and editing an image in pixelmator along with the usual safari, skype, music, steam, mail, text editor with no page outs. All programs are responsive.

I reckon you will be happy with the upgrade.

I'm a average computer user, got a vm going, doing some surfing and downloading, encoding once in a while,

I have four gigs on my 2008 imac and its fine, I would like 6gb just for the kicks, give my vm a bit more ram

I would hope it runs smoothly on 4 GB of RAM. I bet a majority of their machined have that amount or less. It wasn't that long ago that 2 GB was the base amount of RAM.

Certainly better than the Unibody MacBook I installed it on that only has 2GB RAM.

Good to know that it runs well ... but how much memory does the base os and safari consume? Can someone check the activity monitor and find out? If its swapping, then its not good.

It's running surprisingly well on my 4 year old Macbook Pro (Early 2008, 4GB). I don't get as many page outs in ML compared to Lion.

Here's what Activity Monitor tells me. 117/10 GB page in/page out is pretty good.

My sister in law has a late 2008 MBP with just 2gb of ram. I'm going to upgrade her ram to 4gb and upgrade her OS from Leopard to ML. I'm hoping all goes well. I mean, it should, right?

Running smooth for me too.

It's good to know that people are seeing fast and stable performance in older iMacs with just 4 gig of ram. I'm running an 2008 2.8 iMac with that amount of memory and would like to upgrade to ML in the next few months.

Its running perfect on my i7 2.5 quad w/ 4gb ram. Its undoubtedly working better than Lion and no more beachballs and regardlessly; I'm planning on upgrading to 16gb ram and SSD. :D

Runs fine on my mid 2011 i7 16 GB iMac. Runs fine on my 2007 iMac 4 GB RAM, Smooth and fast on both iMacs.

Just fine on my late 2010 15" MacBook Pro. It was very sluggish after the initial bootup after upgrading. A reboot set it straight. Running Safari 6 with four tabs and have 1.57GB free RAM.

I'm running ML on a mid 2012 Macbook Pro (4GB RAM). Ive been noticing a lot of small hiccups (gestures taking ages to register and even lag when just browsing web pages). I checked my page-in and -outs and I have 2mil of each and well over 10GB's of swap space (I think this is virtual memory?). This is after about a day and a half of uptime... Normal?

Its running fine on my brothers mba with 4gb but if you can upgrade than do so .. its worth it.
