Hows the Kindle Fire HDX?

I use to own a Nexus 7, but I hated it.

There were several things I did on my ipad, that the basic android would not let me do. Things that I shouldn't have to download an app for.

Before I got the Nexus, I was planning on getting an HD, but got talked out of it. Now that the new one, the HDX is here, good lord it looks extremely tempting.

I use Amazon a ton, and would make use of many features, I don't really use the ipad for productivity anyway, and it actually looks like it has better specs in some areas, like the increased RAM and resolution, which I can totally spot as I read and game a ton.

How's the web browser and stuff? That would be my primary concern. I have an Iphone so I wouldn't be missing any apps.

Love mine, I have a 7" HDX a 8.9" HD as well as a Nexus 7 and my favorite tablet is the HDX.

I have the Kindle Fire HDX 7" version that I picked up on Black Friday/Cyber Monday - $75.00 off total. Under $200 for the 32GB version.

I picked up the device because I read a lot at night. My ipad3 is just to heavy during bed time and I wanted something bigger than my iphone.

The big big plus for me is the form factor and then the discount, otherwise I would have gone for the ipad mini. Nexus 7 form factor doesn't really work for me - although I considered it too.

Pros: I really love the form factor/hardware, price, Mayday (on screen video help directly from Amazon); nice sharp screen - super great, actually; web pages load pretty fast.

Cons: blue haze/halo around the border of the screen; sometimes connecting to wi-fi, the device restarts; Amazon app store is not that great; battery life is so so (may be better if strictly for reading); Charging the device seems to take longer than my ipad. I have the more powerful 9w that Amazon sent to me as a promotion.

The blue haze is transparent enough that it really doesn't bother me when reading with a white background. Can't see it against a black background. I mainly read black with white text.

Managed to find the apps that I need - Flipboard, Feedly, Soundcloud, Netflix, TuneIn Radio, Kindle, of course. A few apps that I sideloaded just don't work.

The apps that I can't find from the Amazon app store, I download from 1Mobile. I don't have Amazon Prime but they do offer a lot of free TV shows fro non Prime members. I have purchased enough from Amazon that I probably should invest in Prime.

I also downloaded an Anti-Virus app - something I would have never considered with IOS.

Overall the pluses outweigh the negatives.

I downloaded a few apps that were not available on the Amazon app store from 1Mobile. Not quite sure about the reliability of that site. I'm new to Android.

If you are interested, I believe Amazon is currently has a interest free payment plan for the Kindles.

I am kind of shocked to say this, but the HDX 7" that my wife has is pretty incredible and pretty much on par with my ipad Air. The HDX is just as fast, probably more stable lol (hopefully Apple will iron out the problems in ios 7 soon), the screen is just as nice as well as the sound. My wife, even though has been an Apple fanatic, loves it and is now considering getting an Android phone. The only thing I don't like about the HDX 7" is the smaller screen size. I bet the 8.9" HDX is probably a great device with that screen size.

I love my ipad Air, don't get me wrong, but I am glad to see other options performing just as well and at a cheaper price.

To answer one of your questions specifically, internet browsing on the HDX is very good, on par with my Air performance wise except that the HDX doesn't crash at all when internet browsing.
