The inside of the clasp is more likely to get marked over time from the way it locks together. It’s the outside you need to worry about more. They’re easy to polish back up to almost new once they start to get a few surface scratches though. Silver link and Milanese are the two most long lasting bands Apple have ever made I’d say!

Looks silver to my eye in that photo 🙈 yep the clasp will show some wear but the rest should be pretty good. Only downside to SB is if it does scratch, it stays that way. It’s durable though so you should be good 👍

I agree, it’s my favorite bank, the link.
The finish on the outside has zilch markings.

I've had mine since the very first Apple Watch and it had been on every upgrade until Series 6 graphite came out.

But last year with it on the S5 it started to get a few scratches. Up 'til then it was pretty much bomb proof, I'd knocked and scuffed it many times with not a mark on the band. But all of a sudden I started noticing scratches, mostly on the external of the clasp .
I'm thinking the DLC had slowly worn over the years until it's integrity against scratches failed.

I bought the SB milanese to use whilst I tried to source a spare clasp but the S6 came out before I found one and I went with graphite (with milanese) as SB wasn't an option (apart from Hermes). I still keep an eye out for a 2nd hand mint SB clasp as I still have the S5.

I was cleaning it and noticed tiny scratches on one of the links. There’s plenty of spares on eBay, but I never trust them to be genuine.
i have one more I’ve kept when/if I break this one. I may just buy a silver link as well. It’s that good
