Bought a 16" M1 Pro 16/512 the month after they came out (paid full freight for it at Apple). Earlier this year, grabbed a 14" base M3 Max (36/1tb) on a flash sale because I needed a smaller form factor for travel. Kept the M1 Pro.

I still love the M1 Pro, but definitely see its age--it has a lot more bounces when opening apps and is much less snappy overall. For those still rocking an M1 Pro, you still loving it or eyeballing an upgrade?

My launch day 14" M1 Pro (16gb 1tb) is holding up very well. If the M4 Pro is better from a size/weight standpoint, I might consider upgrading. It's been a great laptop and I've not had any issues with it. It still runs all Office apps very well, and I run a Windows VM via Parallels and that is smooth as well.

I'm a tech nerd so if the M4 is compelling, I will probably upgrade.

Got two 14" 16/512 base model MBPs. No issues so far. The keyboard is shiny on the main one but it works fine.

My M1 Pro 14” 16/1TB is still holding up great and runs circles around my work computer. When Apple finally releases a new form factor that is hopefully a touch slimmer (or at least tapered like the 13/16” Pros used to be) I may consider upgrading. Speed-wise it still chews through everything I throw at it, but I’d definitely go for a 32/2TB system next time (or 64/2TB if I can swing it). I’m a digital packrat when it comes to photography and hate using external drives to split my libraries up.

Still good. 16 inch M1 Pro. Have 2 x Dell 27" 4k monitors, recently picked up the new Samsung 32" OLED display and found out my Pro chip can't handle 3 4k monitors. Will either upgrade to a M4 max or get Mac studio in the future.

I got the base model and I couldn't be happier with it. Keyboard is a bit shiny at this point, but otherwise it's pristine. I've run through six or so laptops since my first in 2006, and this is the first one that hasn't had a serious problem within its first three years. Keeping it as long as I'm able – certainly another two or three years. Everything is still absurdly fast and completely reliable.

Depends on screen or other factors. But I could see grabbing an m4 max over the M1 Pro this time. Really want the oled screen though so can wait.

I have a 32/1tb model that is still running strong. My only gripe is the ever growing creaking noises coming from the chassis. It's actually the second identical model as I replaced the first one that also had creaking noises.

I have a 14 M1 Pro 16/1TB. Had it since launch. It’s doing well, but I’m ready for a 3rd monitor and a Max would be ideal. Have considered keeping this laptop for travel and getting a studio with a max chip. I may lean that way if the new MBP has no other changes than just a new chip.

Upgraded from 13" mbp late 2013 to M1 mbp touchbar when that came out. While I used it heavily for last few years, the mem swap issue and need for more ram and space and my aging eye sight from working on web design and coding made me pick up a m2 max 96ram and 4tb for less than $3kcdn at an estate auction and couldn't be happier. I use windows parallels alot so helps with the ram allocation on that. Night and day diff and still use my m1 on the side for smaller task.

My 16" 1 TB/32 GB M1 Pro was ordered about 2 months after launch, I believe. It continues to be an awesome machine for me. I predicted not long after I received it that, barring a mishap, I likely wouldn't even consider a new MBP til M5 generation hit the street. I might even be able to hold out til M6.

My “ordered day 1 but got a few weeks after launch” 14” M1 Pro 32GB / 1TB is still going very strong. I do strangely notice the “bouncing ball” every now and then, usually when I’m opening Microsoft apps (poweproint or excel), but I suspect it’s because I continue to use my older no-longer-supported Office for Mac vs their newer Office 365 subscription.

It’s been a dream computer though that’s never given me any issues. I don’t need to upgrade, but as others have said above, if the M4 upgrade looks compelling (either a chassis change / significant upgrade in chip performance / AI capabilities), I might upgrade as a “want”, not as a ”need”.

I’ve also realized that I don’t really need the MBP. I might seriously consider the 15” MBA when it comes out with the M4.

Rockin my M1 Pro still and I'm not likely to upgrade until the M5. In the past I've been driven to base my upgrade cycles on the battery dying on me. Whenever I need to bring my laptop in for service, I typically upgrade instead and sell my old laptop when it comes back from service. I really hate the process of transferring all my files so if I'm forced to do so for service reasons, I'll just upgrade and reset my upgrade timeline instead.

The battery life of the M1 has turned all of that on its head. I'm more than 2.5 years in and I'm still at 93% battery after 530 cycles. I'd normally be absolutely ecstatic if I was at 93% after 1 year.

i'm overall happy with the computer, but my battery health is degrading somewhat alarmingly. i was at 99% in february this year down to 87% today. i feel like it'll dip below 80% within a few months. i feel like i should just trade in and upgrade to a 16 base m3 pro. it's on sale right now at best buy for $500 off. not sure what to do.

Day 1 14" Base M1 Pro MBP. Still working like new. Battery health is 94%. Any upgrade being eyed is to replace the late-2012 27" iMac, not the M1 Pro MBP.

Based on Geekbench iOS scores, even a base M4 iMac (assuming Apple continues to not grace us with an Mx Pro iMac), is still a 25-40% bump over my 14" M1 Pro MBP. Heck, the M4's single core score is over 40% higher than my current iMac's multi-core score.

My 14 Inch M1 Pro runs just a smooth as the day I bought it, maybe even better with Sonoma. I am very picky and perceptive about lag and I have had absolutely none. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign and there has been no change in how quickly they open up and operate.

If your system is feeling bogged down, I suggest you try to run Clean My Mac every few months, even on your new machine.

Still very good, doing CAD works in Fusion, and it can render same speed as the cloud rendering. Downside, I wish it has better Bluetooth bandwidth and HDMI 2.1+.

- Bluetooth seems to limited to 2-3 channels, if I connect my mouse + keyboard + headphone. It will struggers to stay connect, sound will cut out randomly. I had to switch my mouse to Wifi mode with dongle or keyboard plugged in to workaround it.

- HDMI 2.0 is very limited, can't go beyond 60hz+ in 4K HDR.

- I got Apple Care, about it expires, but I think I can still extend it monthly price. The battery needs to replace after a heavy daily use.

I picked up a 16" 16/1TB on launch day, I do wish I had sprung for 32gb of memory... I committed to using it for 5 years before upgrading, so long as it doesn't suffer any catastrophic failure. I typically upgrade every 3 years, so this is an exercise in self-control if nothing else 😅

Still going very very strong. It does 90% of the stuff I need it to without breaking a sweat. Sometimes playing a game presents a challenge with the screen scaling and the 14 core GPU isn't the best these days.

I'm holding out on upgrading until the Tandom OLED Displays come to the MBP.

That may not be caused by CPU limits. My M2 Pro bounces for about 10 seconds the first time it launches an app; after that it's much faster. I think there's something screwy in Apple's security check.

As for my 16" M1 Pro (32Gb / 1Tb) -- I couldn't be happier. Battery still on 95% at 175 cycles. I aim for six years out of each Mac. I don't always get that, either due to hardware issues, end of support, or something really shiny coming along.

Mine: Its great.

The only real reason i'm looking at M4 pro is to better run mac native or emulated games (due to the much better GPU in later models) with a view to getting rid of my gaming PC.

If that wasn't a concern, and if i couldn't claim one as a tax deduction i'd be happy to keep running this performance wise for some time yet.

Generally my old machines get rotated out to the GF when i upgrade at 3-4 years, this thing will last her a long time (i'm much more of a power user, she uses laptops for media consumption and basic home finance stuff).

Mine is still great! Best computer I have ever had (and have had many).
16" M1 MacBook Pro 32GB RAM; 2TB SSD. Use it as my sole Video editing machine.

I have an 14" M1 Max and use it daily for all sorts of work ranging from simple things like email and web to complex 3D. Usually I would upgrade every year or 2, but still feel little reason to update this machine. Its simply been the best Mac I have owned in the last 25 years as an Apple user.
