howto replace internal HDD data

I got everything running on my new iMac - installed an SSD for OSX, and also have the stock 1TB drive inside for data - however I'd like to replace the HDD with a bigger WD drive. I will have to wait until I get my hands on a temperature sensor cable for the WD, since the built in one is a Seagate.

Until then I would like to learn what the right procedure is, to move the data from the current HDD to the new HDD, without experiencing any hickups.

Can I just connect the 2TB drive with an enclosure, and copy all data from the internal drive to it...and then swap the drives, and simply expect everything to work like it did with the 1TB stock drive?

Also: though the OSX is on the internal SSD drive, the home folder was moved to the HDD.

Are there possible issues I might be facing with what I'm planning to do?

Any other suggestions? - I'd just like to plan ahead, because the 2nd take-apart should be the last one (first take-apart was when I built in the SSD).

If your built-in hard drive is Seagate, you might be interested in the 3TB drive.

Carbon Copy Cloner for copying the drive's data. Even if it is only the home folder, copy and paste may cause some permission issues.
