No personal impressions, but according to these guys, it ranks in with a score of 608, a good bit ahead of the 330M in the current MBPs. (Which scores a 482.)I was curious if anybody had this laptop and what your impressions were. Seems like they took a looooooot of cues from the MBP.
Yeah for gaming it's solid. It's not a gaming machine, but it can definitely game and hold up. It has a ATI 5650 which is about a little better than a 335m, whereas the 335m is a good step ahead of the 330m. But yeah, 14" with a 1600x900 screen (not sure if they still offer it) is pretty damn nice IMO + i5/i7 options. It's overall build quality isn't as good as a MBP but everything else seems great. I looked into one of these for the longest time before going with the MBP13"

Ya I really only need the extra gfx power that the envy offers to play a new combat flight sim that is coming out, the mb 13 should play it ok, but graphics are important when looking at an enemy 2 miles away. I just can't give up OSX, I LOVE. If apple would at least update to the 330m I'd be sold. That or the wife let me spend the extra cash for a 15 incher!
Which combat flight sim?
They dont have the Radiance which was a huge factor in buying it for me (Plus I got a huge deal on it).
Build quality is good, but doesnt feel as solid as a MBP still (battery cover mostly responsible). From forums QC seems kind of low though. No chassis flex. 4.5hour battery life. Trackpad is okay after latest driver update but MBP is better.
I chose it because I prefer Windows and I got an i5-450m, 6gb ram, 160gb SSD, with Radiance screen for $1095 which was too good to pass up.
I'll let you know how gaming is on it since I havent done it much yet. Black Ops, which people seem to have issues with in terms of performance, ran at 1280x720 to get good performance. Ill let you know about Medal of Honor in a bit.
New Medal of Honor runs at 1600x900 pretty easy
Sorry for bumping an old thread, but where'd you find those specs for only $1095? That's a super steal. I'm looking at the base i5 with a 300GB drive/4GB of memory and Radiance display for $935 refurbished.
