HP Printing Problems

I have Mac OS 10.4.3 and an HP PSC (all-in-one) 2175 printer. It is plugged directly in the back of my G5. I installed the latest HP drivers for 10.4.


When I go to print something in Safari, the printer just advances numerous blank sheets forward, and does not even attempt to print anything on them. There isn't even a way to stop it, short of turning the printer off. However, the printer app still says that 1 of 3 pages is printing.



Does anyone know what the problem is here?

I don't know, but I have been having the same problem with my HP PSC 1315. I plug it into my computer only to find out that it just spits out blank paper until there's none left to spit out.

I really don't know.
When I was having trouble printing with my HP I called up tech support and they had me download even newer drivers for it (the ones from the box weren't new enough). Have you gone to the website and checked?

Also, when did this start? Did this problem start when you upgraded to 10.4.3? If so, that is probably the problem, and my only thought in that case would be to wait for either Apple or HP to fix it.

Problems with printing to HP printers is not limited to Macs -- on the contrary, PC users report numerous issues similar to Mac users. My wife has never gotten her HP to print perfectly 100% of the time -- either the scanner does not work, or she gets error messages while printing. Sometimes she has to disconnect all other USB devices to get the printer to work -- sometime she doesn't.

For some reason HP drivers need to be reinstalled regularly -- I have no explanation.

I used to like HP all-in-one printers -- they were very solidly built and lasted forever. No more.

I prefer Epson printers for pictures, printing on DVDs, and brochure work -- but I will admit that if I did massive amounts of simple printing I would look elsewhere.
