HTC First runs vanilla android (AOSP)

The facebook phone revealed a pleasant surprise and that is that other than the facebook home which can be disabled right in the apps menu, it runs 100% vanilla android. Even the stock android launcher is preloaded. This makes it the first aosp htc device since the g2 and the nexus one. Its also got the lcd2 screen like the one x, and is a relatively smaller device for those looking for something 4.3 inches. This also means that roms like cm10 and other aosp roms should be 100% function since this phone uses the stock android framework and not the butchered sense version that makes porting aosp roms a major pain.

Its posted everywhere in reviews. You can disable facebook home and Chaton and you have barebones stock android.

That doesn't mean the framework is stock Android. There's a difference between just a stock look and an actual stock framework. That's why I asked specifically about his mention of the framework. I've yet to see any confirmation of the actual framework itself. To give you an example, when the G2X was released, it had the stock Android look, but it did not have the actual stock Android framework. Stock Android look ≠ stock Android framework.

That's amazing. Any chance of getting pure aosp on to a one X with decent battery life now? I've tried cm10, AOKP and a few others but the battery is terrible..

I really think if HTC want to save their asses and make money they should give the consumer a choice if they want sense!

Turn on your HTC phone for the first time, connect to WiFi "do you want to use stock android or our optimised skinned android" - consumer gets a choice! Their hardware is lovely but I want real pure stock nexus android.

It is plain vanilla Android, but OS updates will still have to come from HTC by way of AT&T rather than directly from Google.

But the vanilla Android is still a good thing. Hopefully without Sense or other skins to deal with, updates will be quick and easy. Hopefully.

Nope, you forgot the updates will need to be "tested and approved" by Facebook in addition to htc and the carrier.

No its aosp. HTC changes a ton of stuff to make their stuff work with the sense framework hence why its a pain in the ass to get the stock phone and lock screen to work on their phones.

The proprietary drivers are not unique to htc. They are called blobs and even the nexus phones have some. It will still be 100 times easier to port cm to this phone as it is set up to use all of the stock android apps and services rather than sense which uses just about none of the stock apps.

Well that's good to hear. I miss the good old HTC who pioneered stock Android. You could load almost anything on those old school G1's and Mytouch 3G/HTC Magic.

Right now the devs are having a hell of time trying to get aosp for the AT&T One X + because HTC decided to screw up the radio drivers and there are no other compatible LTE/Tegra3 devices to pull em from.
