Anyone else here feel like the Kings of cell phone tech are either royally screwing the customer (us) or completely missng the boat right now?

Arguably the two best smartphones on the market right ( iPhone and N1) now are on total crap networks.

All that needs to happen is for Verizon or Sprint to start carryidng just one of those phones, and they would be sitting on a gold mine. There are enough of us out there at this point who have been sitting on the sidelnes waiting patiently for either Apple to release an update or for Verizon/Sprint to start carrying one of these bad boys, and it feels like every week is a let down when neither of the two options happen.

Anyone else out there feeling a bit flustered?

Verizon/Sprint/Apple, you listening?

Not quite sure I understand. HTC Evo is going to Sprint... Verizon is getting the Incredible. Didn't they also get the Eris and Droid? Seems HTC and Google is not blowing it there. There is talk of the Iphone coming to Verizon this year and we know N1 is going to Verizon soon...

For the record, AT&T is not a crap network...T-mobile might be a little crappy, but not too bad either. I left Verizon to go to AT&T last year and have been happy. Nothing like rollover minutes. Hey I paid for them, I should get them! :D

You are def right that the Big V has got some decent Android phones, but at this point in time I don't think any of them compare to the iPhone or N1.

Yup, the Evo will be out this summer... But I'm strictly referring to RIGHT NOW. Every week for the last 6 weeks Ive been hearing rumors about the N1 on Verizon or Sprint. Where is it?

Sorry man, but AT&T does suck. I live in a major US city and my wife and I have been on ATT for two months now... And hating it! Ready to get back to Verizon asap.

Why don't you ask Verizon to get on the GSM bandwagon.

From Apple's perspective, it makes sense to make a phone that can be sold worldwide than one that can only be sold to a very limited audience.

I'm on it. Let's see what happens :)

Speak for yourself. AT&T works perfectly fine in my area.

Sorry to disagree but T-Mobile is awesome. Their amazing customer service alone is enough to make it worthwhile.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

The HTC Evo and Nexus One are coming to Sprint and Verizon are getting the Nexus One soon so they will be getting some decent android handsets soon and as mentioned earlier, the Droid is no slouch when it comes to Android with Verizon.

As for the iPhone, that is in Apples hands if other networks get it in the US. It'll be interesting if it does happen! Here's to the future! :)

I'm just about ready to give it a shot. Tired of waiting for other carriers to get their act together, if you haven't already noticed :)

I'm glad the iPhone is only on ATT.....gives me joy watching other people cry, complain and "sit on the sidelines" waiting. ;-)

Also, I would not like it if everyone and their mother owned the iPhone.

As much as AT&T is maligned, I can easily say the level of support/service and call quality is on par to what I was getting at Verizon. I've very happy with my service.

Haven't been on the sideline too long. My Verizon service ended in February. I've been on AT&T since then, and I've come to learn why everyone gives them such a bad rep. I've had dropped calls left and right, and the call quality is good some times, bad others. Kind of depends on where I am. Overall, very poor compared to Verizon in my area.

Mainly I held off on getting an iphone cuz I didn't want to get something I'd be disappointed with a few months later. In that time, I've been keeping an eye on Verizon and the N1 development. It's been slow to say the least.

Oh, and just FYI, my mom and dad both own iPhones. I don't think you can claim anymore that it would suck if everyone and their mother owned an iphone; they do.

I feel your pain... I switched from Verizon to AT&T when I kept waiting and waiting for the Samsung O2 to come out. Verizon kept d**king around with it. There was a 300+ page thread on their forums that I was on for months. They are HORRIBLE with phone releases. Their customer service was ok/good, but AT&T has treated me like an MVP since I have the Iphone. I like being treated special. With Verizon, I felt like just another customer. AT&T doesn't work well in half of my house. It sucks, but whatever, I can live with it. Outside of my house, the signal has been great! I also like how AT&T keeps adding more 3G. I get email updates with their status updates for new 3G coverage in my state. The only downside to AT&T is that they are pricey. But with that said Verizon also nickel and dimes their customers for everything they can.

Do yourself a favor and stick with AT&T for a few months for the new Iphone to come out or at least the software upgrade. You would be amazed at how much better your signal can get because of a software upgrade. The new phone might have better signal as well.

Thanks for the advice. Will keep it in mind

Rollover minutes are awesome! I have thousands of em. Do you know why I have so many? Because I can't make a freakin' call on my iPhone because AT&T sucks so hard. That JD Power poll summed it up pretty nicely: In my area (southern California) 27% of AT&T's calls are dropped, or fail to initiate.

I have been sitting on the edge of my seat for weeks now waiting for the N1 to go to Sprint. I used to be on VZ and was completely satisfied with the quality of their network, but they are expensive. I'm going to try Sprint because I figure they can't be any worse than AT&T, but they are a hell of a lot cheaper.

Sprint might be a good home for you. They are about 30 bucks cheaper ( at least for the Mrs and me to have a plan ) than AT&T. They also contract out Verizons towers so your still technically using Verizons towers. :p

I would buy an N1 tomorrow if Sprint announced it. They're another company that could be banking right now, along with Verizon, HTC, and Google. But... for some reason no one's acting too fast.

Edit: Add an iPhone to that list as well :)

T-Mobile has amazing customer service because that's the only thing that keeps their customers there.

At&T doesn't have horrible customer service, but I'm fed up with the network. I travel in big cities, and live in Dallas, and am over the network. Horrible... Everything.

C'mon, Verizon. I miss you guys. I want more than just your FiOS!

Well the EVO will be nice.....and it should be there in June. ;)

The iPhone will be heading to verizon most likely with all of the speculation & rumors going on and the facts behind it. This will most likely be the last year of the iPhone being on AT&T's network. At least the current AT&T customers with iPhones that want the new iphone, will be able to get it for AT&T. After that, the iPhone will probably be running on verizon network.
