Yeah I'm bored this morning as I eat my breakfast. Interesting, but VERY preliminary, nothing more than a leak at this point. Looks like HTC wants to get into the phablet game. I'm not a big fan of HTC designs, I feel they are lazy, antiquated and the 10 left a bad taste in my mouth with how thick it was and those awful chamfers. But I've been dreaming of someone to compete with the Note series for years, either offering a better device or offering competition.

But I think there is NO way that HTC can compete with the Note series. Firstly their going to have to have a stylus and digitizer to compete, I have a feeling this will be a noteless phablet like all the other ones out there. No stylus/digitizer, no note IMO, done deal. Even if they do have a stylus/digitizer will the stylus have a silo and be kept on the phone? That's a huge deal IMO. Also who will they use for the digitizer? Wacom is pretty stuck to Samsung, I don't know that they would license to HTC, and HTC probably couldn't afford them as it seems like it's margins are razor thin.

Anyhoo interesting: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/techn...ean-note/ar-BBwGlPw?li=AA4Zoy&ocid=spartanntp

Pretty interesting. It's too early to really have any idea of how they are going to implement this. Apple has a head start with the Apple Pencil if they ever decide to do a Note 7 sized device and Samsung is so far advanced that HTC would have to invest a lot of R&D capital they perhaps can't spare to do this on a level that could compete.

They cannot compete in their current market, I don't feel Samsung has anything to concern themselves with.

Seriously, we all see HTC's next upcoming smartphone and say maybe this one will prove to be the cat's meow. In no time though most are disappointed and move on. I'm an owner of the 10 and think it is pretty good but I am in the minority by miles.

Given how mediocre sales and support from carriers the HTC 10 were, I am not sure HTC can really compete and would be better focussing on area's of the competition where others are lacking.

You guys saw the video right? https://twitter.com/evleaks/status/778190464025501700 Of course it's rendered, but gives an idea of the form factor. It isn't terrible, but looks overly thick and has those horrid HTC chamfers. They don't mention a stylus, but there is an interesting bump that almost looks like the bottom of a stylus in the bottom left of the phone, it even gleams at one point. Grasping at straws I know, but still...

It looks like an interesting phone. I liked the M10 but it was just a little small for me. Might look at this phone if it is in the 5.5 to under 6 size wise. But as @MRU pointed out HTC should stick to a less crowded space instead of going after the Note line.

Sadly this is true. Just look at the Moto Z Play. Getting really high reviews from users and press, but no one has one.

The Moto Z Droid I try each and every time at BB when I am there. Stops me from going for the Axon 7 or Honor 8 but the damn price is ridiculous. I know, it has QHD and SD 820 etc but maybe when the price comes down.

I overspent for the HTC 10, no way in heck will I be able to sell that even at a decent price, there just isn't any interest.

That bump is the charging port--I think. It appears to be USB C. Interesting that it is not centered but good if it's going to double as a headphone jack though I think I see one of those on the top left. Edit to add that I see that it sticks out a bit. Weird for it to do that either as a charging port or a stylus.

Q. If sides of the device are capacitive in some way, would that mean the device essentially wouldn't work in a case ?
