i was pointing out another benefit i was looking forward to in android 4.2, which wasn't mentioned in the op.
You'll also be able to long-press home button for Menu. I'm not sure how that will work with Google Now though.
i can't remember where i read it, but i think it's going to be changed to a swipe up motion from the home button (similar to that of the nexus 4 motion).
Why not long press the back button? That's a bizarre decision by HTC... what the heck.
I'd prefer to press the HTC logo.
I'm actually not that excited for this update, because I really really hope they bring stock Android to HTC One early adopters.

Not that bizarre, it was that way with the One X, One S, One SV, One XL etc..
battery % indicator is not part of 4.2.2.....
unless I am missing something (looks like it is part of sense)

So if long press home becomes menu what will Google now be?

It's not HTC that's restricting no long press back it's Google. Apparently, some browser uses long press back to show history.
Long pressing the back button kills the foreground app (if you have that feature enabled) so there would be conflicts.
Said feature is enabled via developer options I believe.
Woah, long pressing back button to kill apps or bring up a "back history" is a great idea. It's something I suggested a while ago for stock Android. Someone must've ready my idea. 
Swiping up from home button would def. solve the Google Now problem. Cool.

I'm using it right now with the Android Revolution HD ROM. So far so good! The most obvious change is the addition of the quick toggles and holding the home button in lieu of the ugly menu bar. Battery life is very good as well, but may be more due to the ROM.
I didn't have much issue with 4.2.1, but the quick toggles makes it more than worth it. And as to changing the lock screen, I'm not aware of being able to do that with the Sense UI (there are ways to circumvent that however)

I'm using CM10.1 (Android 4.2.2) and using the home button in lieu of onscreen buttons is so nice. Although I don't like how on my tablet, swiping down from the left of the status bar opens the notification drawer while from the right opens the toggles. why not unify them?
Its rolling out to .401 WWE devices now. It will depend whether yours is unbranded / carrier subsidised.
Basically when did you get the 1.29 update? I got my 1.29 voda update about 4-5 days after it began rolling out to unbranded devices in Europe.
As soon as I see folks getting it over on XDA I will give it a week. At the moment very few XDA members have confirmed getting it yet.
Mine is a sim free handset, bought outright unbranded.
Hopefully 4.2.2 should be available within the next few days
