There is a lot of conflicting rumours though. Some say 13MP camera and some say 12...

It's just a concept phone.....from your link. Does not mean much. Phone companies make all kinds of concept devices. Samsung has bendable foldable concept phones. That doesn't mean we will ever see one.

This is the phone I've strongly considered canceling my 6+ order and waiting for. Seriously, if that concept pans out I'd be all over it - especially if they manage to make it slightly more pocketable than the 6+.

I hope they stick with the 5" screen and just shrink the bezels around it. Everything else looks great though

If they make it 5,2" and shrink those insane bezels down, it can still be the same size or even smaller than the M8.

Unless they get rid of Boom sound or really change it up, I don't see the bezels getting noticeably smaller.

So will it have the exact same specifications as every single flagship device? Why is this one (pun) special at all? Why this instead of a LG, etc.? No wonder they are all in the red...

Agreed...... I don't they will get rid of the Boom sound speakers. It is a trademark thing for them now. They can get rid of the HTC logo on the front to free up screen. They can make it a little lighter though. But the big thing for them is the camera. They really need a great camera this time around.....

Agreed. Boom Sound will stay as I think it is big way to differentiate themselves. Also, the camera has got to get better. The one on my M7 just plain sucks.

Isn't the Snapdragon 810 an Octa core cpu, big/little set up and each group clocked under 2.0Ghz?

It'll be 808 and not the 810. As the 810 won't be out until around next summer. And HTC releases their phones in the spring.

The bezels and the camera are vital.

The camera should be better and they could even put 13mp on the front AND back.

The bezels as others have said will probably remain big thanks to BoomSound.

HTC have turned it around from near death, good to see.

Why do handset makers not opt to stay with HD and rather excel at battery life/Graphics performance/overall display quality is beyond me... You know, they could even market this as an advantage to other phones that have gone 2K.
Not saying 2K displays like in the Note 4 struggle or so, but they could be even better.

This should be HTC's game plan. Have 2 models.

M9: Improved 4.7" 1080p display, 64bit processor, 3GB of ram, 32GB of storage,a regular 16MP camera with optical image stabilization and high MP front shooter, get rid of that silly black bar below the display, loud boom sound speakers, removable battery, sd card slot and strong IR blaster. Make it the same size as the iPhone 6 and you have a winner.

M9 Max: All of the above spec's but with a 6" 2K display and larger battery.

Pretty simple in my book. There is no need to but a 2K display in a sub 5" device. The overall screen quality on my Note 4 vs Note 3 is much better but I can't tell the difference resolution wise between a 5.7" 1080p vs a 5.7" 1440p. And don't attempt to release a fingerprint scanner. Lollipop has a trusted device option with Bluetooth and NFC pairing. With smart watches getting cheaper and NFC rings unlocking your device it will be easy.

The only insane bezel effects the hight, so if they stretched the screen to fill that in, they would also have to make the phone wider, which is what I don't want. To me the width and thickness affect one handed use much more than height (unless it's a ridiculously tall phone). I would much prefer a slightly smaller phone overall and keeping the 5" screen than getting a shorter but wider phone with a slightly bigger screen.

Thinner bezels for BoomSound but still louder
Still great and premium design but perhaps not as revolutionary as the M7...

M9 could be my next update. I only want to stick to FOUR brands - Sony and HTC with cheap Xiaomi and Asus as complementary.

Few things HTC needs to do better -

- Obviously ditch UltraPixel but make the camera one of the best out there. Just ditching 4MP won't cut it. The competition is too strong and HTC is generally well behind in this area. HTC once put better sensors on the One X. They are capable of making a really good cameraphone like with the HTC Amaze back then.

- Add water-resistance like they did to the Butterfly 2.

- If metal, try to keep the temperatures cool. If batteries found in plastic and metal reach the same temperature, the metal obviously feels much warmer. It was good they kept the M8 cooler because the M7 had terrible overheating after 15 min of gameplay playing not-so graphic intensive games like Candy Crush and PvZ2.

- Keep trying to improve battery life. HTC was never really good or the best in this area. I just don't get why they can put 3200 mAh on the Butterfly S last year but only 2600 mAh on the M8 early this year. I would sacrifice thinness for the extra size of a larger battery.

But I will likely go Sony next year just because I never owned an Xperia before and I always wanted one ever since the HTC-manufactured Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 from 2008. Sony will likely ditch the the biannual flagships. I just wish they get rid of the glass rear that still attracts dust and keeps it slippery and smudge/crack-prone. But if HTC can correct a few things I mentioned and blows me away with Sense 7, I can always go back. Their resell value like most phones that aren't iPhone or Galaxy Notes is terrible. Might as well use your contract upgrades for iPhones instead.

2015 Watchlist -
Sony Xperia Z4
HTC One (M9)
Xiaomi Mi 5
Asus Zenfone successors

Way too early to start a thread on the 2015 HTC One. We are probably a good 5 months away from release, a ton can change between now and then.

I expect the HTC One M9 to hit U.S. store shelves in April. That's a long way away in the tech world.
