HTC targets Galaxy Note 3 with rumored 6-inch One Max

Would anyone consider this phone over the Galaxy Note 3? Isn't part of what makes the note series so great the stylus? What are your thoughts on a 6" HTC One?

exactly that. Just having a giant screen will benefit some people, but the s-pen is what makes the note 2 so great. I am very interested in the note 3, but just having a 6" screen does not interest me.

The long expected T6.... Personally for me 6" on a phone is probably too big, but if it matched HTC one design wise (but had a better camera) I could be tempted. Sadly whichever phone I get next will HAVE to have a better camera than the HTC 1. Chances are I'll likely pick up an iPhone 5S or some other device before years end anyway....

It could support any type of stylus / pen like the Xperia 6" device revealed there not too long ago....

I'm always in the market for a 6" phablet and by HTC no less. I just hope it turns out better than the HTC Flyer. Now that was a bust.

I think this is a stupid move.

Samsung has the cash to throw at experiments they know likely won't sell well, so I understand them releasing something like the Mega 6.3. They're testing the market for their existing Note line and seeing how big they can go before people just "nope" at the size. And they can risk wasting time and money throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks like that because their flagship handset is already the most popular Android phone in the world, not to mention Samsung also has a massive business outside of smartphones.

HTC is not in this position. They are facing rapidly decreasing profits every quarter and can't afford to waste their cash on niche experiments. HTC should be focusing on getting their profits and marketshare back by putting all their efforts into pushing their flagship.

They should put their cash into marketing and if they're going to release another Android phone it should be a cheaper version of the One. That's it. They shouldn't be wasting time on experiments is my point. The 6 inch form factor is just a stab in the dark. They need to play it safe until they're in a better position as a company (assuming they succeed in doing that).

Meh, HTC has lost my business with the One. They consistently keep underwhelming and screwing up.

This phone will probably release with mediocre battery life, no SD card slot, no removable battery, outdated software, and a terrible camera, just like the regular One.

Agreed. After my experience with the HTC Sensation there's no way I'm buying another phone from them anyway. Disappointing specs and horrible build quality wrapped in nice materials does not a good phone make.

They are releasing a mini, but given Sony, LG and Samsung are all seeing the Phablets as a viable market, HTC are clearly trying the same. Its a niche market yes, but possibly a lucrative one. It would be a greater gamble for HTC to do nothing. They are at least not releasing a dozen different one revisions which would clearly be a mistake, but a mini and a Phablets could be the way to go.

Either way both the mini and the max look set to get the ultrapixel camera, and that for me is the greater mistake by HTC design choice wise - not the Phablet in itself...

There's a big difference between 5.5 inches and 6 inches. Even Samsung isn't currently putting a lot of stock in the market for 6 inch screens on phones (hence only putting them on the experimental Mega phones with low specs). So this is a massive stab in the dark for HTC.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Note 3 is 6 inches. I'm not worried about the screen size (6 is max though). It's all of HTC's issues that I'm worried about.

Some people are willing to give them a free pass, but they've constantly been a let-down. Never again.

I'm pretty sure the Note 3 will be 5.7" It will be in the same size body as the Note 2, with a marginally larger screen.

That makes sense. Just like the GS4, which is very similar to the GS3
