Recently I try angry bird HD from Chrome web store on my iMac 2009. The gaming itself is fine and also free. But I notice the CPU usage is extremely high, it take 200% of my system.

As far as I know, this game is based on HTML5 and taking advantage from WebGL which are supported by OSX10.6. I wonder why small game like this consumes system resource such high? I know OSX performs very poorly when it comes to gaming but I certainly do not expect this bad.

How HTML5 version of game performs in your Mac?

Using around 55-65% of my 1.86GHz C2D (MBA). That is total usage so about 110-130% since I have two cores.

You have more pixels to drive so that might explain it.

This makes sense since Angry bird SD perform under 640x480 and 1024x768 for HD version.

But why such simple game with low resolution takes so much system resource from my Mac?(C2D 2.93Ghz/GT130/4GB RAM) It seems like HTML5 is much worse than Flash in gaming.

I have the exactly same iMac too and now that I tested AB, I have the same issue. No idea why but looks like HTML5 isn't that great for gaming.
