i posted in a samsung thread and someone got offended when i said this phone is why i don't care about samsung and htc.

the problem is i don't know where to buy it. it's a chinese phone and i know a few chinese who have it, they also think samsung and htc is crap, this phone is cheaper than both of them and has amazing specs, looks gorgeous and runs a better android version than touchwiz and sense, according to my friends in china.

does anyone know where to buy it, if it works on att? i'm in canada, i'm assuming if it works for att... it also works for bell/telus.

also what thoughts do you guys have regarding this phone? it's been out since i think october... so of course the latest phones out perform it, but for me the latest performance isn't needed, i don't play graphic intensive games.

anyways, feel free to discuss.

It looks like a great phone. Is it being released globally? Will it get 4G/LTE everywhere?

It has been available here in germany for a while now and the price even dropped 100€ down to 400€ (unlocked, no subsidies).
It's pretty nice but i don't know if i would get it with Huawei being very weird about software updates.

there's a screen if you scroll on the link where it says "global network compatibility" but that's not very specific isn't it? it doesn't help me at all

however there's this site right here
http://www.willmyphonework.net/

amazon.com seems to have the 16gb version (i guess it doesn't matter once you get a microSD card) for 490$
http://www.amazon.com/HUAWEI-MT7-L0...26644070&sr=8-1&keywords=huawei+ascend+mate+7

but not everyone here is american...

edit: the MT7-L09 model works on telus/bell/at&t

It's a really nice phone with awesome battery life and a great screen for a good price, but I sent mine back to Amazon because of it's size.

Even if it does have small bezels, it was too big for me.

But you said in your original post you don't play graphically intense games, so I wouldn't worry about GPU.

I am of the opinion that Huawei are the next Samsung, they will dominate Android at some point, they even make their own CPUs now, seem to have a decent UI and are differentiating themselves.

With the above said I will give them another year or two before I confidently recommend them over Samsung, Htc, Sony, LG or Motorola.

Huawei is a good company. I underestimated them early on when I saw my Dad use one from MetroPC with awful reception back in 2011. I move to the Philippines for 3+ years and Huawei is everywhere in ads. I didn't think they reached the heavy hitters until I saw the first Mate and P6. They improved both again last year. Mate 2 was amazing with battery life.

Mate7 is arguably the most beautiful phablet out there. I really like it in white but I think I would pick the darker model because skin matches it better. The prob with it is that skin. Emotion UI has quite a few issues even though they did improve it. Basically a copy of MIUI which copied elements of iOS. No app drawer. GPU is also not great and neither is the camera. Battery is good but not superlative like the Mate 2.

Check Android Authority and Phone Arena review on it. It has issues but a pretty face. Like a prettier HTC One Max done right with the rear fingerprint scanner.
