Insane is really stretching it. The previous X ranked at the bottom in battery life even with the smallest screen. The Xs brings the benefit of 7nm but it's a wash with smaller battery. Depending on power efficiency if you happen to luck out on LG display it could potentially be worse.

It's clever marketing on Huawei's part since they're one of the early adopters of 4000mAh battery even in their budget phones. Fanboy or not take one since it's free as you can also use it on other devices.

Maybe he meant insanely poor....lol. Good on Huawei for thinking about them. I would have waited in line just for that free powerbank.

We haven’t heard much about battery life but from the few reviews it’s been glossed over so probably meaning nothing to write home about.

The battery life on my X hasn’t been good.

I’ve not seen anything like this at all. None have really said anything about it either way which means it’s ok. Not good or bad.

Insane battery life to me would be a phone lasting a full week with heavy usage, but I guess others have much much lower standards

As you said I have not seen anyone write or put such nonsense in a review either. Mashable said it wasn't much of a step up to the average iPhone X

I cannot believe iPhones STILL don't get Fast Charging chargers out-the-box wtf

So it’s just the same as I Thought. The extra half an hour is just Apple’s marketing guff.

For iphone xs max battery it is 3100mah, weak battery makes you charge more and 2 years time the battery bites the dust.
Hence they used to slowdown their phones to ensure they still get more battery out of a charge.

I sure they still do it to a degree, but we will probably find out in a few years when someone else does an investigation, then we will have the usual Apple Brigade down here defending all this and calling new features to iPhone innovative when they are been on Android for years, cycle will go on

They throttle the phone's performance so it wouldn't shutdown in the middle of something due to the degradation of the battery. They should have come up more open about it iniOS 10.3 update and clearly specify what they were doing instead of "battery performance fixes", which turned out to be how it was simply because nobody knew what was going on for their phones to be suffering of terrible performance.

iPhone's general suck at battery life, especially the smaller iPhone's. The Plus / Max are good.
By that logic, Android is terrible at battery life.

Actually no, it does not. The OS is more efficient so the battery size actually does not make that big of a difference. Most phones today last a day and get charged overnight. That's the same for most good android devices and iPhones. The "weak" battery is only a small piece of the puzzle.

And, sadly, after 2 years most android devices are on their last leg (almost out of support) or their batteries are trashed. Either way, they get OS rot. Pixel may be the only exception.

Actually the battery life surprised me

The fact that you have reboot the iPhone Xs and Xs Max everytime it dims is automatic disqualification and there may be other power throttling cheating going on underneath the surface that needs to be investigated. Also, the Note 9 is pushing about 28% more pixels resolution wise and it's full screen without notch cutout. Since the iPhone Xs Max is a fake 6.5" display we need to use surface area as a unit instead.

Thanks for the video.

Didn’t think the iPhone X’s with its tiny battery would beat the note 9. Interesting, given the iPhones display is set to maximum brightness.
Vs the others.

iPhone X’s max is a beast and the display looks amazing.

Yeah that doesn’t make any sense.

Surface area and display size are two separate metrics. You can’t use them interchangeably, you sound like the YouTube guy that doesn’t know the difference between pixels per inch and screen resolution, he sounded equally uneducated.

A display is measured diagonally from corner to corner. Just because a display has a cutout doesnt make it smaller. You sound ridiculous making that claim.

You can argue surface area all you want.
Don’t think anyone really cares about that metric, but have at it.

Here's an article to help understand basic concepts.

http://taipeigeek.blogspot.com/2018...e-xs-max-display-surface-area-comparison.html

In conclusion

This is a real display comparison, because it deducts the areas like the notch and the rounded corners, basically it's the screen size you actually see every day, not the display panel size, which is partly bent and hidden behind the notch and the corners. I wish Apple would provide this information to us, it would be more appropriate than the diagonal size.

The Xs Max I'm using it now, it can last a whole day on single charge compared to my note 8 which need to charge again but I also have live animated wallpaper on my Note8. The note 8 SOT is good but standby time is not good compared to iPhones.

I would say the max is good on battery. However, I have a feeling the note 9 will be just as good and a beast as well with the 4000 mh battery.

I think there's a hauwei phone with insane battery life. they're really stepping up their game. I know that p20 phone is just too gorgeous.

I’ve used various iPhones and Android devices side by side for about three years now. I think most people would consider me a light user of smartphones as I don’t game on them or watch much video.

In my experience, iOS is better at power management than Android.

That goes without saying. Android phones fix that by putting in enormous batteries.

You're probably referring to standby time vs screen on time. iOS restricts background multitasking so iOS standby time may appear better at the cost of functionality. That's why people who have used both OS' say Android is more advanced since it's more like a desktop/server OS that can run active background web, file, media UPnP/DLNA, etc. services or even something basic like putting an active SSH session in the background without it dying like on iOS which is more limited like an iPod. Unfortunately, a lot of iOS only users aren't aware of this.

Huawei seems to care more about Apple costumers than their own.
I don't really see the sense in this.

I wonder what kind of spyware was installed on those power banks, probably the only way they could get at your data... I'm kidding, well kind of. Seems like everywhere I turn these days someone besides Apple is stealing my data, or telling me they aren't while they "appropriate" it behind my back. Sorry Huawei, you can keep your power banks.
