First look at the new Huawei Watch 2 models:
Huawei Watch 2 hands-on: a disappointing second act
While I think there are some very promising changes implemented by Google in Android Wear 2.0, these watches both seem to miss the mark, IMO.
First, I have to agree with the first impressions from Alex Dobie that they're both stylistically big steps backwards from the first gen Huawei Watch. They really just like like regurgitated versions of the LG Watch R released a couple of years ago.
And second, LG has failed to implement a way to use what I think is one of the best new elements of Wear 2.0--the ability to use a rotating crown or bezel for navigation.
I'd really like to move over to Android full time but the lack of any compelling Android Wear hardware at this point is making this very unlikely as I'm a smart watch convert and nothing right now comes close to the Apple Watch. I had high hopes that Huawei, makers of the best Android Wear watch to date (IMO), could really set the bar with their follow up but this sadly doesn't appear to measure up.
