Hello, I use a Dell UP2716D monitor connected to the MBP mid 2012. I recently started using the Monitor Hub with 4x USB 3.0 ports, so I connected the cable provided by Dell to the Mac. It turns out that when checking the system information, the only ports operating at 5gbps are the Mac, the monitor ports are at 480mbps. I have not yet done a speed test of an external drive connected to the hub with blackmagic disk.

Could it be a macOS limitation?

Very good, I had to connect a device to the monitor to see the information kkk. As shown in the image, I connected a Ugreen case with a 120gb SSD.

Yeah, usb 3 and 2 are a bit of a funny co existance, showing as seperate buses even on same port, thought something like that might transpire.

And this Monitor Hub helps a lot. In the future, when switching from Mac to new models, the USB C port is available, just replace the Type A cable with the Type C cable and I will continue to benefit from the ports.
